In the 34th round of the English Premier League, Sadio Mane’s goals with Mohamed Salah helped Liverpool beat Chelsea 2-0, leaving the door behind Man City to the top of the fog.
Liverpool: Mane (51 ‘), Salah (53’)
Entering Chelsea, Liverpool launched the strongest force with familiar players like Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane or Fabinho.
Meanwhile, the other side of the battle line, coach Maurizio Sarri decided to use the young factor when arranging Ruben Loftus-Cheek with Callum Hudson-Odoi. On public goods, Eden Hazard is the highest player because both Gonzalo Higuain and Olivier Giroud are on the bench.
Thanks to the huge cheering from the audience, Liverpool entered the confidence and quickly took over the game. On the 6th minute, Salah taunted Chelsea with a volley in the penalty area. Thankfully the ball went right into the position that goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga had chosen.
Later that time, Liverpool still owned the game and Chelsea faithfully defended against attacking pieces. Hazard of course is the most feared detonator of the Blues with speedy and tricky moves. In the 20th minute, the Belgian star used the technique to remove The Kop defender before coming out at a tight angle. However, Alisson Becker easily embraced the ball.
In general, the speed of the first half was quite high, but neither side owned a clear opportunity to concretize a goal. Therefore, the first 45 minutes closed without any scoring phase being recorded.
To the second half, Liverpool pushed the squad to find goals and their pressure paid off. In 51 minutes, from the favorable turn of the road to Jordan Henderson, Mane was in no position to hit Kepa with his head.
Overcome, only 2 minutes later, Salah put the name on the board with a long-range shot from outside the box. A moment makes the whole Anfield yard burst into joy.
By 59 minutes, Chelsea had a golden opportunity to shorten the score. Receiving Jorginho’s exquisite long pass, Hazard broke the offside perfectly, but his final kick hit the ball back to Liverpool. Just 2 minutes later, the name Hazard brought a feeling of regret. This time, the former midfielder Lille finished quite well in the penalty area and Alisson easily resolved.
For the rest of the time, Chelsea tried to find a goal but could not once shake Liverpool’s net. Eventually, Liverpool beat Chelsea 2-0 in a convincing way, thereby reclaiming the Premier League title from Man City with 2 more points (85 vs 83).
